Longs may be forgiven if they are sweating their long positions over the weekend: not only did we just have a second, and far more solid Hindenburg Omen confirmation today,

with 82 new highs, and 94 new lows

, but the Saturday is the day when Iran launches its nuclear reactor, and everyone will be very jumpy regarding any piece of news out of the middle east. As for the H.O., the more validations we receive, the greater the confusion in the market, and the greater the possibility for a melt down (or up, as the case may be now that the market is unlike what it has ever been in the past). Furthermore, with implied correlation at record levels (JCJ at around 78), any potential crash will be like never before, as virtually all stocks now go up or down as one, more so than ever before. And should the HFT STOP command take place, the future should be very interesting indeed (at least for the primary dealers, and the Atari consoles which are unable to VWAP dump their holdings in the nano second before stuff goes bidless).

Arab sources: A major military surprise is close. Galant scandal a smokescreen

It doesn't seem likely that the U.S./Israel would wait until just before the fuel is to be loaded to carry out a strike. More likely, a small-scale sabotage act....something akin to earlier this week when there was a nearby aircraft crash and "dummy" drone hitting the reactor dome....think delay, instead of destroy.

There are two separate issues here, incorrectly merged into one. The electircal power plant is not a threat. The first issue issue is the acivation of a nuclear electrical power generation plant which is no secret since it has been public knowledge that Russia has been in the design and building stage for almost two decades. This, in itself, is not a threat to anyone. The second issue is an apparent covert effort on Iran's part to develop a nuclear weapon which is a problem. Beware the professional ideological agitators efforts to mislead the public by combining the two issues. Uranium U235 needs only to be refined to about a 20% purity for electrical power generation. An atomic weapon needs as highly refined uranium: to about 80%. An Iranian nuclear weapon is a major problem. But so is a Pakistani weapon controlled by Pakistani Taliban-al Quida. Any early armed action against Iran would likely only delay any potential weapon developemtn, but would ignite the entire mid-east in a regional war, trigger an oil supply problem, negate any remotely possible Israili-Palestinian peace and basically is unwinnable. The only reason the U.S were necessarily involved militarily in the mid-east is because of its petroleum resources, which involvement the lead to development of insurgent groups.........(MARS...I very much appreciate all the contribution and find it to be very helpful ! thank- you. Hello BW, thanks for the note. I suspect we agree on most of this: 1) No problem w/ a nuclear plant for electricity 2) Iran's desire for nuclear weapons while hoping to become a regional hegemon, and it's leaders using incendiary rhetoric towards neighbors is a problem. 3) U.S. military presence in MidEast is primarily for oil resource security...agreed. 4) I don't envision, now or in the future, any type of ground force invasion into Iran if escalation continues. I do think you may see small-scale sabotage, tactical strikes, fomentation of further political uprisings, etc. which would not lead to regional conflict. 5) Because of the splits within Islam, the U.S. can use the Iranian threat to secure cooperation from regional neighbors and because oil is still primarily denominated in U.S. dollars can benefit from it's manipulation.
